What isn't performing as well as you'd like?
The upgrade may or may not make the difference you seek. Personally, I suspect it would, but I tend to leave more applications open, which would benefit from the additional cores. The FX-6300 is Piledriver, the FX-4130 is Bulldozer. Piledriver has a higher IPC, and you're also gaining another module. What motherboard do you have? If it is suitable for overclocking, you can get even more out of either chip.

Of course 6300. More cores, better single core speed, less power-hungry (95vs125). Probably the best price-performance cpu in the current market.

It supports cpu up to 125W. 4130 is on the edge. Go with FX6300. There's no doubt, as I said before.

That board will support an FX 8320 bumped to FX 8350 speeds. I have two of them, myself. That would be my pick for your upgrade as it is the best your board will support.
