Hi i was planing on buying gtx 770 TF OC 2 GB but today this card became available for only 10% more:

Gigabyte R9 290, 4GB GDDR5, HDMI, DVI

i know that 290 is beter than 770 but i read that Gigabyte R9 290, 4GB GDDR had lot of problems and i am unshure if they fixed it or not and if i should just stick with bit les poverfull but safer and quieter option

More about : 770 290

I owned an r9 290 from Gigabyte and it got very hot. Hit 84c instantly and it started to throttle it's clock speeds. I switched to performance mode and the fan went up to almost 90% in all games!

This could be a problem with my cooler not fitting properly or something, I returned and I have yet to recieve it.

But still it will outperform a 770 by far. For 10% It's still a good purchase. As I could never hear the game except when running it in performance mode. and the framerates were great!

But for the gtx 770, Isn't that model made by MSI? In that case my friend has it and he is very satisfied with it. Overclocked extremely good and was very cool and quiet. That's up to you if you prefer a quieter, cooler card or a faster, louder card.

If the 290 doesn't have an aftermarket cooler like the MSi twin Frozr, ASUS DCUII, XFX DD, etc on it, then go with the GTX 770.

If the 290 has an aftermarket cooler on it, then go for the 290.

Go for the windforce 290 but be careful of the temps, it may have to run at higher fan speed, and therefore louder than the 770, to stay cool
