Hey everyone,

So I currently have a triple monitor setup: 3 x 1680x1050 = 5040x1050 "single display." I also currently have a Radeon HD 5850 video card (1 GB DDR5) running all 3.

I'm looking at probably getting a GTX 770 (think I can afford that, instead of a 760), but I'm wondering about 2GB vs. 4GB. I've heard a lot of talk from a lot of people, and what I can surmise so far is that for a single monitor setup, 2GB will hold you for a while (especially if you're just going to buy another single card somewhere down the road and save money that way, as opposed to doing SLI with a couple).

However, I've heard conflicting information about 2GB vs. 4GB for multi-monitor setups. Some say 2GB is fine if you're not doing SLI (which I'm not planning to), others say that games like BF4 are already reaching/slightly exceeding the 2GB limit and you should future-proof with 4GB, etc.

I'd love to have your feedback on 2GB vs. 4GB 770s specifically for my triple-monitor setup. Thanks in advance!

On 3 monitors, the 4gb version might be better. Maybe consider a r9 290 if its within your price range also. It is stronger than the GTX 770.

Iv'e also read about all these arguments, and can't find anything conclusive either.

Seeing as your on a budget, the 3GB R9 280X would be a good compromise. It performs similarly to the GTX 770, costs the same or less & you get extra Vram included.

seriously i would be looking for 290x / 780ti for such set up. 2gb of vram wont suffice and 4gb even if it will, it wont be utilized properly by 770. such setup really requires a lot of horsepower for sutisfactory performance especially on latest games.!i would save money for upcoming 780ti 6gb or grab a 290x 4gb

What about the noise issues I've heard about with the R9 290? I've also heard that it depends on reference vs. non-reference versions.

non-reference cards would run cooler and quieter than the reference cooler.
