I'm trying to get the best CPU my computer can use, it has an AM2+ socket. Here are the full stats on the motherboard:

MS-7548 (Aspen)
Manufacturer: MSI
Form factor: micro-ATX-24.4 cm (9.6 inches) x 24.4 cm (9.6 inches)
Chipset: AMD 780G
Memory sockets: 4 x DDR2
Front side bus speeds: Up to 5200MT/s (5.2 GT/s)
Processor socket: AM2+
Expansion Slots:
1 PCI Express x16 graphics card slot
3 PCI Express x1 slots

Would AMD Phenom Quad-Core (Agena) 9950 be the way to go?

Yes, I'm going to buy a new system later and then this one will be a secondary computer.

In the meantime though, I'd like to know what CPU you would drop into this sytem. I know that AM2+ is compatible with most AM3 chips, but I don't see a lot of AM3 chips to buy and even less AM2+ barring looking on something like ebay.

So yeah, what cpu would you drop into this mobo?

Yes, that is the exact page that the specs in the original post were pulled from. I'm guessing that they stopped updating that page quite a while back as it appears there are more powerful AM2+ CPUs that came after the Agena.

Either of these two would work right?
