Currently have the Asus m5a97 le r2.0 and was looking at adding a second 7850 and wondering if the board can support it or will I run into bottlenecking issues or worse issues?

1 x PCIe 2.0 x16 (blue)
1 x PCIe 2.0 x16 (x4 mode, black)

I guess this is what my question pertains to. What is the x4 pcie slot? Will it slow the gpu down at all? Will the motherboard handle 2 GPUs?

the x4 pcie slot is just another pcie slot that will run at a slower speeds. It would probably slow down the overall system a bit.

If you put another card in the system, your cards will both run at the lowest speeds from my understanding, which would be the x4. That would probably slow down the cards a bit, I'm not sure, but it's probably not worth it to Crossfire with that lane.
