Is there a solution for this problem...I have checked the internal connection(s) all seemed solid. See attached pictures/videos describing the problem and the connections checked. If there are any suggestions from any experienced in such or if any one has found a solution... your comments would be most appreciated. The TV is only six years old. Is it time to get a new one? Thank you.

green vertical line is a symptom of older software running on your tv as listed in:

http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/cpindex.pl?ctn=42PFL5624H/12&dct=FAQ&faqview=1&refdisplay=C26_MTV_LCD_E_TV543_QAC_74839&refnr=0074839&scy=GB&slg=ENG

Every software update solves different issues. A software update ensures that your TV is performing optimally in accordance with the latest technological developments.

To check if there is new software available for your TV, you have to check if the software version on the Philips support website is higher than the software version in your TV and update it if necessary.

Follow these procedures to check the current software version on your TV.

Press the button on the remote control to access the home menu.
Use the cursor button to select SETUP and press the 'OK' button to confirm.
Press the cursor down to select SOFTWARE UPDATE and press the cursor right.
Select CURRENT SOFTWARE INFO and press the 'OK' button to display the current software version on your TV set.

Check the software version against the latest TV software on the Philips support website. Refer to the SOFTWARE & DRIVERS section.

If the TV software version is lower than the version posted on the website means your TV set needs to be upgraded.
Follow the instruction in the user manual or readme file of the firmware upgrade on how to upgrade your software.

Thanks neon for the tip...I do have the latest software. I already tried reflashing the TV. It is the same software that has been on the site for years. This software didn't help. I have asked Philips to see if they have another firmware upgrade possibly available. Thanks again.
