500 / 650 / 750 Watt PSU for R9 290

I'm going to buy the Sapphire R9 290 Tri-X but I am not sure which PSU to get.

I don't intend to OC my gpu any time soon maybe in 2-3 years or so.

  1. Hey,

    http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/geforce-gtx-750-ti-review,3750-21.html

Your card uses close to 300w at peak so it would depend on your CPU. 500w for a FX AMD series may not be enough.
I would get a 550w, or a 750w just for being able to do dual cards later as that is the minimum.

    What processor do you have?
  2. i3-2100 atm, going to upgrade to an i5 4670K in a couple months.

  4. You don't think I need a 750W? because that was recommened, can't remember by who though.
  5. The 650w listed above will easily power the card with your specs.
  6. Also if I am going to OC the i5-4670K ?
  7. Sure will.
  8. Intels use much less power than the AMD counterparts. Everything Blackbird said is correct. :)
  9. So 750W would be an overkill? will 650W still be enough if I am going to OC my GPU and CPU?
  10. If you GPU is around 300w and your CPU at stock is 84w. Your system without OCing could run off of a 500w PSU. So with OC you will be more than fine with a 650w. :)
  11. Yes your fine , 650 is perfect.
  12. Thank you! Just wanted to be sure <3
  13. Last question, would 620W be okay too?
  14. If it's a top quality 620 yes.
  15. XFX TS Series 750W Single Rail ATX 12V 62A 24PIN ATX Power Supply 80PLUS Gold Certified $70 for another couple hours if you want to go with a 750 Watts from a quality maker

    @Pondering
Blackbird said I don't need 750, thanks haha!
  17. That 620 is good, so if the price fits, get it.
