Hello all,

I recently installed an after market cooler to my newly built gaming pc to overclock my cpu. I noticed extremely high temps around 80ºc while gaming and 50 - 60ºc while web browsing. I have unmounted and cleaned the cooler and cpu about three times now. I even tried using the stock cooler and getting the same temps. Been trying to narrow down what could be causing this but I am coming up blank.

Here's my build:

cpu: amd athlon x4 760k
mobo- gigabyte F2A55M-HD2
gpu- MSI r9 270 OC
psu- thermal intake 650w bronze
case- antec mid tower case
ram - 8gb corsair vengeance LB
cooler: zalman shark fin blade cnps10x optima ultra quiet

Here's a screen shot:

Solution
Please ignore 'package' temperature for your 760k, instead download AMD overdrive and report your thermal margin.

Also, what temperature does your CPU read in BIOS (if you leave BIOS open for a while)?

Ok, downloaded AMD overdrive and my temps are around 45 - 48ºc. Thanks for the help LucoTF

Sounds good, remember the margin gets smaller as temperatures rise :)
