I am confuse, do I need a 6 pin connector from PSU on my nVidia GeForce 9600 GT video card? My video card seems to work properly, the fan is working, I already installed latest driver. If i dont connect a 6 pin connector from PSU, my video card might be broke in the future? What side effects it might occur in the future? My PSU is 600W and it doesn't have 6 pin connector.

Thank you for your reply.

Some video cards cards have reference designs that don't require the 6 pin and so on, but some manufactures add the extra power connectors for things like better power delivery for their non reference board, and also for a better cooling design. The card only draws about 76 watts which is max for a pci-e slot, but for just videos and light gaming you probably will be fine, anything like futuremark or a intensive game will turn your computer into a camp fire. Without the right amount of power being delivered to the card they have been known to catch fire. So open your case and monitor it during a game

Depending on your systems age you could do something like a power supply upgrade like a cheap corsair power supply, 430 builder power supply, or anything from evga, xfx would be good also. for a 9600gt though to be honest something like a simple molex to 6 pin would be sufficient enough. http://www.amazon.com/4-Pin-Molex-Female-Adapter-Length/dp/B007NMSUUA is where you could buy a simple one, doesn't need to be anything fancy. You could also just upgrade to something like a r7 250 video card which doesn't require the connector but would give you really good performance. but yet again that is depending on the amount of money that you have and what you are willing to spend I recommend using the 250 just because it will work in pretty much any older system because most of the nvidia cards like the 600 and 700 series have bios which have interfered with systems not being able to boot after installing you can buy the 250 here if you want http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121800 it should give you a 3-5x performance increase if you choose to go down that road.
