See if you can put a Q6600 in there, it will be OK for most games. $30. ebay..

Hello,

If you want cheap CPU you can also go for Intel Pentium G2030 - this is still Ivy bridge but you can look up similar Haswell variant. It has decent performance in gaming with 2 cores and quite high ghz which for gaming is enough.

At least I have one and playing games just fine - I usually play SC2 HOTs and Dota 2 on high details. In SC2 which is more CPU intensive 4v4 mode can be sometimes laggy due to CPU but mostly its fine.

You really should consider a few things before you cheap out and buy something "low". Buying a cheap CPU will sometimes get you the performace you want right now, but maybe not in the long run. I would much rather prefer buying something solid that will last me for many years (yes, nowadays a good CPU can last you a while - the incremental updates haven't been impressive).

MMORPG's are a game type native to the PC - and therefore usually implement 3-4 cores if possible. So I would get a solid quad core if it was me.

Don't cheap out.. Get a good i5, I'm thinking 4690 (Not K edition) and to compliment it get a B85 chipset motherboard - they are somewhat cheap.. This setup will last you a loooong time.

It all depends on what can you spend. When i was looking for gaming PC i was on tight budget and then i5 was out of question. So i went for pentium g2030. And I don't regret it as it has decent performance. And I can also upgrade later on if i will have the money and feel the need.

If you want something that overclocks nicely and is relatively lower priced, the fx8320 is still a decent chip for its price.

Otherwise if you want to go lower, maybe consider the Pentium like someone else suggested. Intel will be releasing a newer pentium soon, might want to keep an eye on that if you want a Pentium.
