I saw a Core 2 Quad Q9650 with stock intel cooler for 100$ which i think is pretty good deal. I want to play games on that cpu .I dont have cash for new mobo and i series processors. I currently have a E8400 Stock 3GHz with no CPU cooler installed .4GB Ram LGA 775 Socket and a 5450 HD .I am looking at 7750 HD for the gpu and Q9650 for CPU. Both will cost me about 200$ combined, but the thing here is if i spend 250 $ I can get i3 with mobo and a case but 5450 will be my gpu. What step should i take? I personally thing 100$ is a sweet deal tho

It's only a matter of time before the Core 2 Quads phase out of games' minimum system requirements. Eventually mostly all popular games will require Core i5 CPUs to run them. The video card is a bigger problem, however. A 7750 will fall short of system requirements for games like Crysis 3, Wolfenstein: NWO, and Watch Dogs. That video card is not expected to last much longer at all. An R7-260X or GTX 750 Ti should last about 2-4 years, though.

What price is the Q9550? I'm not sure what it's like in the US but in the UK the Q9650 is overpriced, but the Q9550 is a bit more reasonable

Depends on the games you want to play, and depends on if you are happy on lowish settings.

On real new demanding games you will struggle but lower settings should be fine. On most Steam DX 9 games you will play no problem.
