I recently built a cheaper gaming PC(parts listed below). I have tried using an 8.1 Windows Pro installation. I make it through most of the beginning of the installation and get to the part that is titled "Where do you want to install windows?" I then select my 1TB harddrive and click next. My harddrive has no partitions and is completely new. This whole thing is a clean install with new parts. After selecting next it loads for awhile and then gives me the error code: "0x80070057". How can I fix this to finally get my PC working?

Parts List
AMD A10-7850K 3.7GHz Quad-Core
Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus 76.8 CFM Sleeve Bearing
Asus A88X-PRO ATX FM2+
G.Skill Ares Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-2133
Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM
Corsair 500W ATX12V
Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer

Please help me with this. I've been waiting 2 months to finally getting this working!

There may be an issue with Windows 8 and your current BIOS level.

Use the motherboard's BIOS Flashback functionality in the BIOS to download and update your motherboard's BIOS to the latest release and try it again (Manual pages 2-23,4-11).

Or you can download the latest BIOS from that Asus motherboard's support page on a different PC and put it on a thumb drive, pop the thumb drive into the appropriate USB port on the back of the motherboard, and power on while holding down the BIOS Flashback button (Manual page 2-23). This method only require power to the motherboard (nothing else has to be installed). I use this method to update my Asus boards (usually Pro or better boards have this functionality) prior to installing any hardware to ensure optimum hardware compatibility across the board.

Also, make sure you put the disk controller(s) in the BIOS in AHCI mode (if they aren't set as such already) prior to the OS install. This will offer the best drive performance and have your PC ready if you decide to add an SSD to your system down the road at some point.

The problem is that it's trying to format the drive to install. I jsut read a story where a guy was doing the same thing you are installing on a recently build PC and the problem was the SATA cable. But it could be anything the is used with the drive ( the drive itself, The SATA cable or the Controller.) That error is related to not being able to format a drive.
