Is it legal to make backups of your own legit UMD's (PSP game disks), in the form of ISO images, provided these backups are exclusively for personal use and one doesn't distribute them to other people in any way?

Solution
By law you are entitled to make one copy at a time for personal use to protect your master disk. But this is a law from the 1970's, and ever since the major content producers and copyright holders have been lobbying and chipping away at that.

The concept continues to today, but almost every medium has a "propietary" encoding/encryption that is illegal to deconstruct, disable, or bypass. So you have the right copy it for personal use, but if you do you're breaking the law.
