cant start or install windows

I bought new hdd 500GB today(last one corruped). I installed windows 8.1 Pro. I used pc for about 2 hrs n it freezed 3-4 times(nothing was installed either except gpu driver). I thought to instal another edition of 8.1 but during installation pc froze. I restarted it but now it wont open. Says something like this "ur pc didnt shut down properly during installation press ok to restart and try again". Now what should i do? I cant even proced to install any windows. M i doomed?

Are you sure its hdd? Even if it is i would like to know how will i format it or even log in if it doesnt boot up? It keeps displaing message that windows didn't installed hit ok to restart!
