Was trying to change screen resolution when above message appeared covering whole screen and won't allow me to do anything. Tried F8 to reboot in safe mood but doesn't give me this option. I can choose either lite-on dvdrw shw-160p6s or st3802110as or press esc to boot using defaults. I have tried all of these but still getting message. windows xp.

Press F8 at boot like you would when entering safe mode but select last known good configuration.

Dont make two different threads of the same issue.

Ok, your machine is probably using f8 as both the first boot device menu, and as the windows boot menu.

Press F8, select your hard drive (the st3802110as), and then press and hold f8 agian a couple seconds after selecting it, see if you get options for safe mode now (but dont go safe mode, chose last good config).

When you get to the screen where you can see safe mode, what other options do you have?
