Hi Guys,

Just wanting to get some feedback on a build I am looking at saving up for.

This rig will be upgraded as time goes on. Possibly liquid cooling, more HDDs, additional graphics cards, RAM etc.

I have some things already bought.

Is the PSU over kill or is it good to future proof?

Thanks

That's the exact card I had in my last system, and loved it. Great cooling, not too noisy.

I would also look at a different PSU. That one is a good entry-level PSU, but it's not really designed with a high end gaming machine that will be overclocked in mind.

EVGA 850 Supernova G2 £98.65
Made by Super Flower, one of the best OEM makers in the industry
10 year warranty. Full modular
Enough for gtx 770 SLI/CF in the future

What will you be using this computer for? If it is ONLY gaming, then I'd say that the build is a bit unbalanced. By that I mean that you have spent too much on the CPU/RAM and not enough on the GPU which is the most important part for gaming performance.

If have the funds, move up to at least a R9-280X / gtx 770. If you don't, then drop the i7 and go to an i5-4670K and 8Gb of ram. Again, that's assuming this is a gaming build.

Food for thought.

Which GTX 770 would you say is best for this rig? Something like this: http://www.cclonline.com/product/117432/GV-N770OC-2GD/Graphics-Cards/Gigabyte-GeForce-GTX-770-Overclocked-with-WINDFORCE-2GB-Graphics-Card-PCI-E-DVI-HDMI-DisplayPort/VGA1687/

I don't think I will be majorly overclocking, it may be something I decide to do at a later date. So the PSU and the CPU cooler could be upgraded if I decide to overclock. (I'd love to have liquid cooling eventually!)

750W could be enough for SLI/CF in the future if it is a high end PSU. The CX750 would struggle, especially at higher temps. So it doesn't really make sense to get that PSU from that standpoint.

At the same time, if you are just getting a single card, then a 750W is overkill and you could save some money here. I'd suggest this one

XFX XXX Edition 650W £60.06

If you want a PSU to future proof for possible sli/cf, then I'd recommend the psu I linked above.
