Can someone give me some guidance on how to set up a raid10 thats >2TB (GPT) with server 2008 R2?

We have a new server assembled with 4 x 2TB drives and an ASrock server board. No raid controller. i know there are better ways to do this, but thats not the question, i just want to know how to trick server 2008 into using GPT or having a raid10 >2TB

More about : 4x2tb raid10 server 2008r2

If you have an ASRock server board with an Intel chipset, then it's possible you may be able to create a RAID-10 array with 4 drives using Intel's Rapid Storage Technology RAID configuration. You don't necessarily have to have a dedicated (read: add-in board) RAID controller. Check ASRock's documentation on your particular board to confirm.

Windows Server will just see your pre-configured RAID-10 array as a single drive; you will need to load the driver through the F6 prompt during setup. There is no "tricking" involved. You can partition it as you wish; however, if you want > 2TB, then you will need to use GPT.
