My 260x has started to make noise recently(guess the noise is from the bearing)...only when the fan is at 40 to 50% speed and when starting th pc up ...have a custom fan profile with afterburner...i've been having a lot of issues with the gpu like black screen crashes when the pc is idle..is there a way to fix the fan noise and what could be the reason?...just wondering if the fan has gone bad because of the custom profie i have with afterburner...

No wires hitting the fan and i've already tried to tighten the screws int he fan...And the noise is only when the fan speed is at 40 to 50%...I can reprouce it by manually increasing the fan speed...

Most bearing-style fans have a sticker on the bottom of the actual fan unit that hides a hole which houses the bearing, you can add a drop of Turbine Oil,Sewing Machine Oil or other low viscocity oils you can find, then rotate the fan manually to work the oil into the bearing.

Be sure to get the excess fluid out of the bearing housing and off the surrounding area before repositioning the sticker.

EDIT: Because they're common,i feel i should warn against 3in1 Oil and WD-40; These both contain solvents that can, overtime, break down plastics.

Hmm well thats scary to hear,i have a 3 month old sapphire r7 260x(single dvi version).
I get no vibrations or noise from the fan hardly at all. Maybe yours was slightly defective? Id RMA it before anything.

XD Hope mine doesnt bug out! Im already kicking myself for getting the single dvi version because i didnt know the dual DVI can do eyefinity without the need to DisplayPort,as none of my monitors have DP.
