Hi my GPU (Asus R9 270x) has x1 HDMI port which im using on my single monitor now so i need to use the DVI port for my 2nd monitor. the question is

Do i purchase a DVI to HDMI cable adapter like so

Either one will work.

DVI-I is a combination of DVI-D and DVI-A (digital and analog). DVI-D is electrically identical to HDMI, a passive DVI to HDMI adapter simply provides the correct mechanical connection. DVI-A is electrically identical to VGA, a passive DVI to VGA adapter simply provides the correct mechanical connection. Necessarily, DVI-I contains all of the pins needed to accept either connection. I would recommend a passive DVI-I/DVI-D to HDMI adapter.
