I recently bought a a R7 240 AMD Radeon graphics card to get me off my integrated.

After installation, it acts like it's not even there. The fan on the card works itself, but I cannot get my PC to detect the hardware even there after installing the drivers from the website and the disk.

A bit more information, I have it in my one PCI Express x16 slot. I am also running on Windows 8.1

Any help is appreciated.

Solution
have you accessed your BIOS/UEFI settings and changed your video settings from integrated to PCIe? stuff like this happens sometimes with some boards and it's not always automatic.

I've looked through the BIOS, but I can't find the setting for some reason. My PC is a HP, are you familiar at all with it?

EDIT: I found my problem, In security I had the slot disabled. *Facepalm*

I have the same problem bought the same card today, and i have this problem so my question is BIOS/UEFI settings works on windows 7 ?

the BIOS/UEFI has no relevance to your OS.

1) re-connect your cables to your integrated graphics. if you got an extra monitor/tv to connect to, connect one to your GPU and the other to integrated
2) turn on your PC.
3) right away at the motherboard manufacturer logo splash screen, press the key to access the BIOS/UEFI settings (i.e; F2, Del, etc.)
4) search for the video settings to switch from integrated to PCIe
5) save the setting & exit. if your PC restarts, turn it off by pressing the power button.
6) connect the monitor to your GPU.
7) turn on PC

you should now be running video off the GPU

I've looked through the BIOS, but I can't find the setting for some reason. My PC is a HP, are you familiar at all with it?

sorry, i'm afraid i can't help you there. each motherboard manufacturer do tend to offer a different layout for the BIOS/UEFI. the option should be located under the Northbridge settings..... or southbridge, i can't recall.

EDIT: heh. more for me to learn. congrats. have fun.

I'd say your computer can't tell the difference, performance wise, R7 240 is very poor graphics. :D
Sorry, but Linus tech tips channel summed this card up in just a few words: "Why would you even buy that?"

Have you plugged your monitor into your graphics card? Does it boot? Your pc will only activate that card to which you have plugged in your monitor. Additionally, some BIOS have the setting for you to assign priority to a graphics device, you will need to find that setting and give priority to PCI-E.
