Dual channel memory into Single channel in Intel DH61WW Motherboard
Rajakrishnan
Hi I planned to Increase my System Memory from (2*2GB ) 4GB into 8 Gb (1*8GB) single slot .
(I don't want to upgrade memory as (2*4GB) 8GB , AS I am planning to upgrade my machine memory to 16GB in few month.)
I Used to play game at higher setting & also using adobe Photoshop, Dreamweaver ,Visual studio...
If I change the dual channel into single channel memory, any performance issue will occur ?
System Specification:
Guys suggest me a solution....

In dual channel you get more bandwidth and less stress on memory host controller. Performance is hidden to naked eye though.
However, switching to one RAM for a moment will not give you any problem issues.
You may however, face issues when you will buy another 1x8GB module to make it 16GB (My assumption) because of any incompatbility. It is always preferable to buy kit of RAMs like 2x4 or 2x8 as they are guaranteed to work together in a channel by the manufacturer. Last you could do is to make sure that you buy exactly the same model, same serial no RAM so that better compatibility can be achieved. -

I planned for Corsair Vengeance 8GB (1x8GB) DDR3 1600 MHz (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory (CMZ8GX3M1A1600C10),
If I go with the same later on for 16GB , will it be fast enough without any issue ?

Performance can't be hidden, either it increases, decreases or doesn't change. You don't see electronics work really, (although not hidden) but performance is the end result, the part we react to. Gaming shouldn't really see a change but adobe software or visual studio may go a little slower. It shouldn't be an issue, you may not even notice it. By looking at the specs, you are probably not doing anything too intensive anyways.
The ram you chose is good. Any other ram with the same specs will do as well. -
The RAM you've chosen has CAS latency of 10. Pl don't buy this RAM. For your requirements, you better consider buying 1866MHz or more speed RAM because you are more into graphics software then gaming.
If you want to buy 1600MHz RAM, better get one with CAS Latency of 9.
Pl provide your budget for RAM. -

EasyLover said:I've searched online stores in India. Quite unfortunately, RAMs with 1600Mhz and CAS 9 are not available there. Your best option is the once which you have selected or get 2x4GB versions.
I will go with Corsair 8GB single as I planned to add one more 8GB stick Later.
Thanks for your suggestions. EasyLover & K1114...
