Odd HDD Operation On Boot & In Windows (Long Boot Times)

My SSD is the only thing I have currently set for boot in my UEFI BIOS. Everything else is disabled (ODD and HDD). Oddly enough, I hear my HDD spinning up when I turn on my PC. I don't know why this is, but it happens. I assume this is attributing to my extremely slow boot times for an SSD. I get a boot time of about ~30s, which is about triple the time of most SSDs. I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit SP1 installed, if you wanted to know (I know Win7 boots slightly slower than Win8).

My HDD randomly turns on while I'm in Windows. I expected the HDD to stay on all the time while in Windows, but at completely random times I can hear the HDD turn on, it's the same sound it makes when I turn on my PC.

Well it has to stop for you to log in. But the time really depends on what its loading.

When I use a hdd, It took my pc about 2 minutes to boot to log in and another 2 mins to load windows after that.

With the ssd, it takes about 30 secs to boot to the log in screen. And then another 30 secs to load Windows etc.
Just because its not the boot device, doesn't mean it does something when powered up. Bios has to check it's there and working for a start.

Do you have to log in to Windows or are you the only user? If you are the only user, windows also loads all the background processes you've got running eg

Anti Virus, Afterburner, UEFI, Printer status, nVidia updater, keyboard software, web cam, etc etc

And that's only part of the list of junk I have. It takes me about 30 secs from login to Windows ready - on my SSD.

I'm the only user on the machine, but I've made it so I have to log-in anyway, because other people are in my house, and I don't want them using my PC when I'm gone. Are you saying that, because of the log-in screen, it takes a long time to boot?
