How about get the case you want/need and then get something like this below:
GearGrip Pro fits most Desktop, Mini and Mid-Tower Cases up to 52-Inch in Circumference - Large Size
Or adjust your Mobo (possibly) and fit into a SFF Case w/handle, like below:

Damn those are large cases, for lan I would go with something similar to a Silverstone Sugo SG-07. Unfortunately I do not think they do them any more. This came with a 600W PSU and could fit a full lenght GPU.
I think this is the replacement, more of a home theatre look to it.
I would prefer a SFF to a mid tower. But that is up to you.
Added: I have and love the sugo SG-07, have a i5 with a 6780 in it. Nice and powerful for a spare machine.
