Hi!

My laptop suffered from a black screen a week ago. I can't find any fix for it. The black screen appears after the "Windows is Starting" logo. the log on screen isn't there. its all black with a pixilated cursor. I tried task manager but it didn't work (it doesn't even show up). I've tried startup repair, safe mode, reformatting and "start using the last good config option" but it didn't work at all. I tried booting using kaspersky rescue disk 10 by loading it into a USB, but it says that the windows OS is not installed or corrupted. although I managed to recover my files in Drive d using the kaspersky recovery disk. I tried installing windows using it but it doesn't work.

any suggestions? Thanks in advance!! :D

It does look like a virus, some viruses can't be detected by some antivirus. Maybe you can try installing windows from a usb stick, in case the cd was corrupted. You can try booting into linux, backup your data and format your harddrive

I've tried re-installing windows from cd but I can't get to that "seting up windows" during the installation so I can't install it. it's all black screen before you can get to the setup. the last time I booted up succesfully, I did insert a sd card from a camera but my avast didn't show a virus during the scan. after removing it safely, my laptop lagged. I waited about an hour for it to settle but the lag didn't stop. so I had to resort to a hard shutdown ( I removed the batteries). after that, the black screen occured when I turned it on again.
