Hello Internet.

I'm stuck on which GPU to buy the gtx 770 or the R9 280x. I will be using it your gaming and in time a 2 way crossfire or SLI. GPU boss didn't help much as it was bias. If any one has any recommendations let me know but please give a reason behind it.

Thanks in advance :)

Hi The_Freeman
They are both good cards
Which ever you choose , i would suggest gigabyte cards for the windforce cooling , great heat disapation with this cooler
My personal preference the 770 for advanced physx

like Hazle said, their about equal with the better performancebeing mostly game based. But if your gaming above 1080p the R9 280x scales better and performs better at higher resolutions.

Thats a hard decision in terms of performance. As vortical said, when it comes to big resolutions, AMD goes better than nVidia, and it's also cheaper. My vote goes for 280x!

I'd go for the Sapphire r9 280x Dual-X if you can for low money, I have one myself and it never gets over 65c even under full load and overclocked

if you are looking for better performance? the 280x wins hands down due to the prices right now. a gtx 770 is around $340+ while you can find a 280x for as low as $280. which makes it a clear winner.

XFX RADEON R9 280X $280

vs

GTX 770 MSI $319

if all you care is performance, go for the 280x.

if you care about recording, go with the 770, thats the only reason I went with a 760 instead of a 280x, shadowplay. but thats because I have a pretty big youtube channel.

it all depends on the types of games you play and what engine they run on, if UE4 games will be anything like Watch Dogs you will wish you got the 770 but if you going to SLI don't look at the 2gig really, anyway the 280x is the better of the 2 since the performance is about the same and has 3gig of Vram which will be helpful down the road as things look currently

well im a bit biased about brands so if I were you I would only look at MSI or Sapphire when it come to the 280x and MSI or EVGA when it come to the 770, I find other brands to be mediocre, and Asus is just overpriced for the quality they give

my vote goes to the MSI R9 280X gaming but the Dual-X is a better deal
