Hey guys,

My PC came with Windows 8 installed but i didn't like it so I changed it to Windows 7 32 bit. But now I want to change my OS to Windows 8 so is Windows 8 still in my BIOS? Can I install it without CD or it is gone when I installed Windows 7 32 bit?

If this is not possible how can I upgrade my Win7 PC to 64 bit? (I know my Product Key.)

Solution
Your windows 8 install is indeed gone, unless you chose to partition your drive or backed it up elsewhere or something else. You will need a Win 8 cd or usb drive or digital download etc. as for your operating system being 64 vs 32 bit its not something that you can probably change as most if not all CPUs are either 32 OR 64 bit and wont handle the others OS.

Typically when you buy a PC from the major PC companies they install a system restore partitian. My newest PC the OS is on C and D is where the system restore files are located. Typically when you turn a newly purchased PC on it will ask you to make restore disk or a USB flash drive restore disk. if you didn't do that then you can contact the PC maker for restore disks if they didn't come with the PC. Technically if the PC came with Windows 8 then you own the license for Windows 8.

As far as the 32 bit versus 64 bit - Most processors today are 64 bit and Intel has been making 64 bits processor a long time. AMD made them even before Intel. You can run a 32 bit OS on a 64 bit processor but you cant run a 64 bit OS on the 32 bit processor.

You can almost tell by the memory of a computer if the OS is 32 or 64 bit. A 32 bit OS will only use a little over 3 GB of ram so a computer vendor usually will only 2 , 3 or 4 GB of ram on machine with a 32 bit OS. Now if the machine has more then 4 GB it's a good sign the OS is 64 bit.

In other word you own the license and you can install as many times as you want as long as you don't change motherboards. Your PC had Windows 8 activated in the factory before your purchase. The Key on the PC is the key that is used to activate windows. So get the disks form the vendor and you should be good to go.
