I saw on the newegg that R9 280 cards are only 169.99 after rebate.
That's the price of 270x, right? So I was considering to purchase it, but the card design made me hesitate. It only has one tiny fan, which awfully resembles the infamous AMD reference coolers. Is this card reliable?

It will be noisy and warmer than dual fan coolers. Wouldn't recommend if you don't like noise.

Actually I have one and it runs fairly cool. I would make sure you have an open case design. The temps rarely go over 60C with decent overclock with near silence.
