Hi everyone so today I'm going to give my Razer megalodons a rest. It was great in its prime, lightweight 3 options (stereo, mono, 7.1), customization etc. Terrible mic. Very fragile. Would not recommend for $150 but I may of just had bad luck, as the something in the ear well is lose, and now cracking my head will cause static interruptions. I digress, What I'm looking for in a very loose "prioritized" list; (If possible if a recommended headset has one of the perks if you could attach the numbers to it also so it may be easier for you).

    1. Price: $150 ($170 Max)
    2. I am very "rough" with my headphones so durability is prime. (they fall a lot onto my wood floor do to negligence and animals)
    3. preferably closed headset, will be fine with open but closed is preferred.
    4. I would like for it to have the 3 options; but as a priority it would be Mono > 7.1 > Stereo
    5. These can be headphones or a headset, (slight/minute preference to the headset). If you know any great products of either please feel free to link
    6. The megalodon ear "cups?" are rather small and my ears do hit the edge but its about 8mm, and my ears hit the ends.
    7. Id like a pretty study cord, but a typical one would be alright
    8. I am always on my computer writing, movie watching, or gaming so I use them a lot.
    9. Preferably no name brand as I've found most your buying the packaging &/or the brand name.
    10. weight doesn't matter that much unless its like a cinderblock, lighter the better but not worrysome.

My considerations but with little research (will be updated tomorrow but would like to get some comparisons, and samples):
Astro A140's
Plantronics GameCom 780 *(I really enjoy plantations as for me they have been VERY durable and comfortable)
more to come tommorow

Logitech G430 7.1 Surround Sound
SENNHEISER G4ME ONE 3.5mm Connector Circumaural Headset
(X - Overpriced and done with razer esp. for headphones, personal exp.) Razer Tiamat Over Ear 7.1 Surround Sound PC Gaming Headset
(X - New design flaw seems a caustious buy, newegg review) Corsair Vengeance 1500 v2 USB Connector Circumaural Dolby 7.1 Gaming Headset
(x - "On topic, I can't recommend any steelseries products. They aren't worth it at all, you'll more likely to encounter problems with it and in about a year or 2 your headset will become completely useless. If you can afford it, go sennheiser all the way." DPK teamliquid.net forum) - SteelSeries 9H Gaming Headset

(Seems sound quality is very great with a lot of reviews) - Audio-Technica ATH-M50
Sennheiser HD 598 Headphones

Edit w/ Research: Stopping research today -- I've convinced myself thus far that going the headset route is a not such a good idea, it seems you can buy a very great set of headphones for $150. I have a pretty terrible video mic and going to test that mic and see how it goes. I might abandoned the headset idea altogether because it seems to be plagued with gamer tramp stamps so to speak.

I have had mixed feelings with logitech and have vowed to never buy anything from them again. I bought one of those "WoW Headsets" from then and they broke when I put them on. So I really don't trust them for headsets. Although I had an office mouse from them for 8 years I used for gaming. Can you personally vouch for its durability -- I've found that the two steel pole ones like the megalodon ones arnt as stury as full material, but full plastic snaps as did my WoW ones I got from Logitech.

3 of my friends has this headset as well as me and 2 of them bought it the same week it was released. They have dropped it many times and the ones pet has been playing with it so I would say that they are very durable. I also have been avoiding logitech for my own reasons but this week I bought their G710+ keyboard as well as g430 headset.
I can highly recommend this headset.

I know that a lot of my friends in Germany use the Sennheiser series and the Corsair. The Sennheiser is a little higher then I'm willing to spend, but upon more comparisons it may win me over.
