Samsung SSD 840 EVO *VERY SLOW* Read access times

I'm running the 840 EVO on a SATA 2 port but i'm getting an extremely high read access time of 5.606 ms. I'm upgrading the motherboard and CPU and RAM today but am still bothered by the fact that the current access times are so high on this setup. All optimizations have been performed. Any suggestions as the current hardware is going to a friend who will also probably be using a SSD on the hardware.

The fact that the port is a SATA 2 port should not have anything to do with access times to the drive at least not to that extent. SATA 2 will only effect the maximum throughput of the drive enough to make a difference.

What mobo are you currently using and is the SSD plugged into a SATA port that is natively supported by the mobo or controlled by a separate controller chip?

Realistically it shouldn't matter what SATA port it is plugged into but if the drivers for the separate controller aren't functioning properly that could be a reason for your poor access times.
