My rig is currently running dual nvidia gtx 460. I believe I got this setup in around 2009 or 2010, can't remember for sure. I was looking to upgrade as I'm just now not being able to run games on the ultra settings I'm used to, and was wondering if anyone could give me some advice as to what I should be looking for.. do I continue running sli or is it better to just upgrade to one solid card? Any input is greatly appreciated.

If more information is needed to give solid advice please let me know I'll post all the specs when I get home

Single gpu is always recommended. Cannot suggest a card till we know the rest of your set up.

Intel Core i7 960 (3.2GHz, 8MB Cache)
12GB Triple Channel 1333MHz DDR3
1TB RAID 0 (2x 500GB SATA-II, 7,200 RPM, 16MB Cache HDD
Windows 7 64 bit
I was mistaken about the graphics card actually! My laptop has the 240 I believe and my desktop is running Nvidia GeForce GTX460 Dual

I run 2 monitors, and a resolution of 1900x1080

My Psu is 875w

I have a pretty large budget as long as the upgrade will last as long as my current setup has. I didn't cheap out then I would rather not now and have to upgrade in a year or 2. I updated my last post with my psu and stuff if that helps. Thanks alot for your help

The single best gpu is the GTX 780 Ti. Runs around $700. Option below that would be R9 290 for around $450.
