My standard AF140 fans in the corsair carbide air are really loud. I dont have them turned up that high (around 50%) and they are very noticeable when running. It's not a problem when I'm playing a game or watching film but when, like now, im just browsing, it is way too loud.

So now I am upgrading the gpu and motherboard I thought I would get a few silent fans. The ones I'm looking at are the gelid solutions silent 14 fans. They are apparently much better volume wise, and almost the same performance wise. I am on a budget of around £35 for at least 2 fans, otherwise I would have considered noctua. Any suggestions?

Save up for a while is a valid suggestion :D

I'd suggest the Phanteks fans which top all the recent Noise / performance charts .... have 10 of the spinning in an open case 2 feet from my ears in a silent office.... no sound.

I am controlling them via Asus FanXpert2 from my CHA headers on the MoBo via the Phanteks PCBs that come with their cases. As soon as the 3rd PCB and 5 more Phanteks fans arrive, I'll move to 15 fans...... right

CHA_1 => PCB_1 => (5) Case Fans
CHA_2 => PCB_2 => (6) Radiator Fans on XT45-420
CHA_3 => PCB_3 => (4) Radiator Fans on UT60-280

The fans respond to temps via 4 separate fan curves in FanXpert 2, 1 for the water pumps and the 3 above for the Chassis Headers. Fan speed ranges from 325 to 850 rpm (max speed is 1235-ish rpm).

they look really good! I have seen 2 versions that suit my build. There is ph-f140hp and ph-f140sp. Can you explain what the difference is? The HP look much better with the mounting style. But I want to be getting decent fans that I don't need to replace anytime soon. 15 fans is a little beyond my plans though! :D  3 overall will be sufficient I should think. The carbide air is a very spacious case so its relatively cool anyway.
