Whenever i tell someone that gaming is my hobby and it is just like movies or other form of entertainment they keep laughing and dont consider games equivalent to movies, tv, music and say grow up games are for kids. Gaming industry is making revenues equivalent to movie industry but still games are not considered mainstream and people just see it as achildish useless activity.
Usually i ignore these idiots but sometimes it get on my nerves when 4 people infront of me are non gamers and i m alone defending games

More about : gaming mainstream

I'm 32 years old and have been playing video games since I was 5. You can tell from my Simon Belmont avatar from NES. I will always play video games until I die probably and it is just a form of entertainment for me that actually makes me think, use strategy, work on my motor skills/hand-eye coordination, etc. I do feel that games are becoming more like movies as the graphics are becoming more realistic with each generation. I'd tell those people at least I'm not sitting on the couch getting fat, eating potato chips, and watching movies all the time. At least I'm using my brain for something in my spare time. I built a gaming computer for a retired military vet who was in his late 50's. He loved to play military games like CoD and Battlefied titles. He said that any FPS games that came out, he was gonna try them out. Thought that it was pretty cool to see this old guy play video games as entertainment.

I've been playing video games since the late 70's when I was a little kid. I didn't become a "hardcore gamer" until I was in my early 30's and I sort of know what you're talking about, especially considering that I'm also a table top gamer. I wouldn't get too hung up on what other people think; the same people who laugh at gamers have no problem spending 8 hours a day watching TV which is something I'll NEVER understand. But if you really have to you can always point out that all the "Flappy Birds/Candy Crush Crap" they probably have on their phones are video games. I mean someones buying that junk and it certainly isn't "gamers". They have better sense than that.
