Hi people,

With the help from a kind soul on this board, I managed to to plan this system (both silent, strong and small):

CASE Corsair Obsidian Series 250D / Black Aluminum / Steel Mini-ITX Tower Computer Case
GPU MSI GeForce GTX 760 Gaming ITX 2GB PhysX
MOTHERBOARD MSI Z87I AC, Socket-1150
CPU Core i5 I5-4670K 6 MB
PSU SeaSonic G Series SSR-550RM 550W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD

But I am having some doubts as far as the PSU goes. Is it silent enough? Are there other PSU's that would serve me better? And could this system be better at all, in terms in cost-benefit-silence-power ratio :D

Cheeeers :)

PS: Almost forgot it: Any advice regarding hard drive? I have heard something about a new and silent non-mechinal drive, is that correct? Fast also.

Seasonic is probably the best PSU manufacturer right now and it is plenty powerful to supply GTX760 and the rest of your system.

Thanks :)  But would you say it is silent enough? I'm trying to do the impossible (create a small, silent and powerful gamer rig).

I have the MII12 series seasonic PSU (one step down from the G series) and it is really quiet. My case fans and gpu typically make more noise than the PSU IMO.

Do you already have the RAM, HDD, and OS planned out?

Ah - would you say that is sufficient also? Because silence is key :)  No, haven't got a clue about RAM yet - but I am thinking about this HD:

Samsung 840 EVO MZ-7TE500BW 2.5" MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

OS has to be Windows 8.

Yes, seasonic is known for their quiet power supplies. Here is a review of the power supply you are looking at, take a look at the noise section:

What size is that SSD? If your case has room for it I would grab the Samsung Evo 120gb SSD and a 1 TB Western Digital Blue HDD.

For Ram grab 2x4 gb 1.5v 1600-1866mhz ram, pretty much any brand.

Thanks - it is INSANELY difficult to pick the right one. What about this one? http://www.hardocp.com/article/2010/05/18/seasonic_m12i...

The HD is 500 GB and 2.5. It fits well, I think :)

PS: Do I need a DVD-drive? It would be so nice not to have one, but how does one install the OS then?

The Seasonic m12II is the exact model that I have and would recommend it to anyone.

A 500gb Samsung EVO is going to be pretty expensive but if you can afford it go for it. Most people do a smaller SSD for the OS and applications and a mechanical HDD for mass storage since it is cheaper.

You do not need a DVD drive if you have a computer that you can use to put the OS on a flash drive (thumb drive).
