Intel NIC loses connectivity

I built a computer for my friends father, he is also a friend of mine, and we all live together.

I have taken on the responcibility of maintaining the network...

since they are both named Dennis i will refer to the father as Big D, as i always do.

Big D lost connection to the internet last night/this morning, and has been offline for a long time, he works online maintaining a website so he needs the internet, and since he's a gamer and likes to play Battlefield 4 to unwind from a long days work on the server, he needs the wired NIC for reduced latency while gaming, i built this PC for him as he's been an outstanding individual maintaining the house, and working like a slave on the website. Specs are as follows:

ASUS Maximus VI Formula
Intel i5-4670 Haswell
16GB DDR3-1600 AMD Entertainment Edition RAM
EVGA nVidia Geforce GTX 770 SC (With that fancy cooler.)
a few HDD's and an SSD by Mushkin
Corsair TX750 750w PSU

i've built the home network myself using CAT6 Gigabit cabling, and a simple low dollar PC running Smoothwall Express 3.1, being as i am most proficient in AMD products i really have a basic understanding of Intel devices and their troubleshooting is pretty much non existent.

Big D's PC has a WiFi adapter that came with the Motherboard and since i built it, i installed it, and as of right now that is his only connection to the internet for him to RCON his business's server. Even though i am using an ASUS RT-N65U as a gateway, it really is no substitute for the high speed Gigabit he once connected through, and i fear it won't last long as an alternate connection with what he needs to do.

The Intel Gigabit Adapter on the Mobo seems to have an issue, i tried to install the latest update from ASUS but this seems to already be installed. My only other potential possibility is one i dread, that the NIC has just failed. If this is the case, then i will need to install a discrete NIC, his busy schedule may make that difficult.

Things i have done:
-Forced the NIC to use a static IP.
-Disabled and Re-enabled the NIC
-Restarted PC
-Restarted Router
-Attempted to driver update
-IPConfig /flushdns

Things not done but plan on doing:
-Uninstall, and reinstall of Driver and Software
-Connect another PC to the Line
-Make it look Gangsta to scare the internet into submission

We had an issue with unauthorized users on the network so i had predesignated everyone's IP's on the network, however, even though the NIC would identify and use the predefined IP, it would lose the connection and then change the network to "unidentified network" with "No Internet Access" Now, i am absolutely positive that it is NOT the network as i am part of this network, and i have had internet while he had not. I have had some issues where things would not load, but "IPConfig /flushdns" always fixed that, this was not the case for Big D. I tried running Rogue Killer, and Junk Removal Tool, but that didn't fix the issue either, he refuses to use anything other than Avast for AV, although i don't see how this may be related.

I am out of options, even google didn't yield results pertaining to this, Please help.
"Help me Obi Wan Kanobi, you're my only hope!"

Thanks in advance, and forewarning, though i may sound it, i really do not mean to be a meanie, it's something that has plagued me since i learned to write, i don't know how to write politely.

To reduce the potential for methods i have already done.

You listed a ton of information not relevant at all yet left out a bunch that is. If he plays BF4 and is a super nice person who invites angels over for dinner or plays Diablo III and shoots puppies from his window does not matter one bit to his network connection. Keep posts to the point as most will just start reading the junk and close the thread.

When the network drops can you ping the router or other computers?
This a new issue or always happened on this system? Did it work fine before you started only allowing certain IPs to connect? What if you set the network to default again? Try new cable, different port on the router, or a different jack if it's connected to one.

Replacing the network card takes way less time than you spend troubleshooting things, and is about a $10 thing to try if that is the issue.

this is why i prefer to have people read what i post rather than just the title and assume they know the gist of it. As stated in the original post, it had happened then, and only then. and replacing the NIC is cheap, however faster to debug and attempt repair. since the fastest a new NIC would arrive is 2 days.

Understandably no one gives a turd about who's who, though i do, and wanted to convey how careful he is with his belongings, he would never install anything without first researching it before hand. what i ended up doing to fix it was an IPconfig /release and /renew

Recently an issue similar happened on my PC and the same action fixed the problem. I no longer am in need of assistance and you can close the thread, thank you for the reply and apologies for rubbing your fur the wrong way.
