I Get No Signal When I Plug My Monitor Into my GPU.

So I recently found I had been using the onboard graphics for my computer and not my Asus R9 290. I immediately unplugged it from the motherboard and plugged it into my GPU. However I got no signal. I tried installing all the drivers which didn't work, pretty sure I already had them installed. I also tried entering UEFI BIOS do disable onboard graphics but I couldn't. I couldn't do on startup with the F2/Del and I don't have the option to enter it even though I'm on Windows 8.1. I am also on an admin account. So any ideas on how to fix this issue?

A graphics card will operate in a basic low resolution mode without drivers.
You will eventually need to install the drivers to get full functionality and resolution.

If your motherboard is from a dell or such prebuilt, it may have a dumb bios that will not let you change much.
Plug your card into an integrated port and access the bios.
Then select the discrete adapter to be the one that bios and startup messages get directed to.
Only then replug your monitor into the 290 and start up again.

Some monitors will autod detect the input source. Others have a switch.
Make certain that your monitor switch is getting it's signal from the same source as you cable is plugged into.

Windows, regardless of version, should have zero bearing on whether you can enter your BIOS.

F2 and Del are also, not the only methods manufacturers use to enter the setup for motherboards.

If this is a branded machine, can you list the make and model, or if it's custom built, can you please supply the make and model of the motherboard used?

Did you have your display device's cable plugged into the graphics card before you booted the computer or did you swap where the cable was plugged in after the computer was booted? You may need to have the computer powered completely off, not in any form of Sleep mode before making the cable change.

Are you using a DVI- cable, HDMI, or Display link? High resolutions using a DVI- connection on the graphics card require a dual-link DVI- output, of which there is typically only one on an AMD card. If you choose the wrong one, you can end up without display output, or being limited to lower resolutions.

How exactly should I go about plugging my card into the intergrated port?

So it turns out my all my drivers weren't installed. they automatically installed themselves when I left the HDMI cable plugged into the GPU. I think my issue was I didn't have the PCI-E plugged in correctly. The reason I thought I did was because I fixed this an hour ago but just hadn't tried re-booting my PC with the cable plugged into the GPU. Thanks to everyones solution as well.
