Hi,
I've bought ASRock Z87 Extreme4 and Intel Core i7-4790K. Can I put i7-4790 into CPU slot and run PC or Should I first update BIOS? Will I have any problems? Do I have to update BIOS with other Haswell-CPU (not Refresh version) like i5-4670K and later put i7-4790 into motherboard?

Solution
probably need to update the bios with a older cpu first, and you might have to wait for the bios to support the 4790k, check asrock website
The BIOS version is P2.70 and it was available January 27th, 2014.

If you just bought the motherboard there's a good chance the BIOS is already up to date. There's probably a way to find out based on your serial number but I'm not sure.

If it's not supported I believe you DO need a supported CPU to flash the BIOS. I know Asus has a feature called "BIOS Flashback" that does not require the CPU but this Asrock board does not appear to have such a feature. It does have something called "Instant Flash" but it's not the same thing.
