Hey people!

I recently built a rig I've attempted to use two optical drives and they don't work. I can't even open the tray to insert the mother board boot disc.

I have a really old CDROM that I tried, it works but the tray doesn't open. I'm wondering if it's a compatability issue but I've already checked pcpartpicker and it seems to be fine.

Processor: AMD FX 6300 6 core 3.5 GHz
Motherboard: M5A99FX PRO R2.0
Video Card: AMD R9 270 XFX
Extra PCIE cards: Asus Xonar DSX audio card
PSU: Corsair cx500m
HDD: WESTERN DIGITAL SATA 64MB 1TB
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
Optical drive: LG WH16NS40 Internal Blu-ray Writer - BD-R/RE Support - 48x CD Read/48x CD Write/24x CD Rewrite - 12x BD Read/16x BD Write/2x BD Rewrite - 16x DVD Read/16x DVD Write/8x DVD Rewrite - Double-layer Media Supported - SATA/300 - 5.25" (WH16NS40)

This is really frustrating seeing as I work from home and I'm losing money as the days go by. I appreciate the time you take into helping me.

Thanks,
Patrick

@kenrivers

Yeah, one Sata cable running through the optical drive and the HDD then two separate cables connected from the mother board to both HDD and optical drive

I meant the power connection not the data connection (SATA). Have you checked the power connections from the power supply? The SATA connectors are data only and will not power the drives.

Yeah, I have another optical drive from my previous rig that works, but the thing is.. The tray doesn't open, but the new products don't seem to work.
