I just got a brand new R9 280x to upgrade from my GTX 460. I made sure to uninstall all of my old Nvidia drivers before installing the new card but when I install the R9 and boot up my system nothing displays on the screen at all. My monitor cannot find a source and says to check the input cable. When I plug the 460 back in everything works fine.

I have checked the seating of the card to make sure it is securely in the slot and the power cables are properly in it. Is this card just DOA, or am I missing something?

Thanks

I need to install the R9 drivers while the GTX is in correct? Because when the R9 is put in I can't even get to the BIOS.

I just tried plugging the card into my brothers system and it worked instantly without deleting his GTX drivers. The only difference between our machines is that his MOBO uses PCI e 3.0 and mine only uses 2.0. I read in several places that a 3.0 card will work in a 2.0 slot but I guess I have the unlucky MOBO in which that doesn't apply to.

I've never updated my motherboard BIOS, what is the best way to go about that? I would need to have the GTX in during that update as well right?
