upgrade/get newer version of GEdit on ubuntu 12.04?

i'm on ubuntu 12.04 and my gedit is 3.41, it's the only version available to me. How do upgrade or get a newer version of gedit on ubuntu 12.04?

You can build it from source but gedit likely requires lots of latest GNOME dependencies.

Save your self headache, upgrade to latest Ubuntu 14.04 instead...

i heard that if im still on ubuntu 12.04 and i upgrade to a newer Gedit, it could break my OS or soemthing like that, not sure if it's true

Also upgrading Ubuntu is more of a headache...
