This is the message I get after trying a custom install of Win7 Professional I just purchased three hours ago on a completely new build. The build is as follows:

Mobo: GIGABYTE GA-Z97X-UD3H
Processor: Intel i7 4770K 3.5GHz
GPU: Geforce 770
Ram: 16gb trident g.skill 2400mhz
HD: Samsung Evo 840 500gb SSD

On my first windows install, I installed all of the drivers off the Gigabyte motherboard CD as I had no network drivers so I couldn't connect to the internet. After installing the drivers, I rebooted the system and as the windows logo appeared, BSOD results every time (also in all safe modes). I tried to just re-install Windows and get the error message above. I am a novice at the whole process. When I get the prompt to choose which device to select, there is a 100mb partition and a 430gb partition and I stupidly accidentally pressed "delete" for the 100mb partition by accident. It's still there but I can't do anything with it. The only partition I can install it to was I assume where the original windows OS was downloaded and I get told a new folder will be given with the old drive (I think I solve the problem here). Unfortunately the error comes up and I am at a loss of what to do. I'm writing this on another computer of mine. If there is anything you need to help please let me know. This is a computer for my father's birthday and I'd like to get this fixed asap.

Is your disk brand new? Or is it a burned copy?

Hopefully that was the OS partition you deleted, but you can tell if it was when you see a windows logo or something saying OS next to the partition. That states that there is an installed version of Windows on that partition/HDD.

*EDIT*
I would also suggest using a different DVD drive, or maybe copying the installation files to a USB stick (4gb or bigger) and performing a USB install.

The error 0x80070017 translates to "CRC Error" which means that the files that are being copied from the disk are not making it to the hard drive with the same structure, meaning that the "original" files on the disk are being modified/changed/corrupted while being copied to the "destination" location on...

That sounds like the SATA controller may be bad. That board doesn't have any non-chipset SATA controllers, so you may have to hunt down a separate SATA controller to test. You might be able to make some headway if you can change the SATA controller to "compatability mode" or "IDE mode" depending on what options the motherboard has.

This usually means either a bad DVD, or a read error on the DVD drive.

Question: How do I go about creating an .iso file for the USB boot? Once i open up the cd in my windows Explorer it gives me a setup.exe and a few other files but there's no .iso, which is what the program needs to copy onto my usb.

edit: fixed the USB issue and worked. I am free of problems. Thanks!
