R9 290 vs GTX 780

I am wondering on whether I should get the GTX 780 or the R9 290. Games I will play:
Battlefield, Call of Duty, Titanfall, Far Cry 3, Borderlands 2, CS:GO, Bioshock Infinite, Crysis, and some older games like Half Life 2 or Far Cry 1.
I've heard some people say that the 290 does better in BF4, but in most other games, the GTX 780 is better. Is that true? Which card performs better overall?

You have a good mix of games, those that favor AMD and those that favor Nvidia (actually, more on the Nvidia side, COD, Titanfall, Borderlands, all the Valve games, etc.). The first thing you need to do, since you like Borderlands 2 and COD: Ghosts, is to decide if you will ever want to enable PhysX in those games. That feature would be unavailable with the 290.
