Hello everybody,

I just purchased a R9 290 Vapor-X to my system which the information can be found below.

My problem is, after i installed it my system kinda got clumsy. Windows even warned me off to change the theme to a basic theme.

Also, when i run Metro 2033 and Last Light benchmarks the screen freezes (sometimes at the loading screen sometimes during the benchmark)

Watchdogs gets blurry when i turn AA on (everything almost at ultra).

My system is

i7 2600k @4.5 Ghz
Asus Maximus IV Extreme-Z
16 GB's 1600Mhz Corsair Ram
1x R9 290 Vapor-X
1x GTX 460 Hawk (dedicated to Physx)
Win7 64bit

I did not get any bluescreen (thank god) or desktop freeze (not even watchdogs freeze).

Thank you for your time reading this post and hopefully for sharing your ideas and/or solving the problem.

Regards

Yes i did install my GPU drivers from there.

And btw to clarify, when the benchmark freezes computer still operates with ctrl+alt+delete command and can turn of benchmark and continue as nothing has happened.

Wow oddly, after answering the question and pressing the back key on my mouse my screen just went black. I needed to press reset button (the computer was still running with lights on).

I do have a Silverstone Strider Gold 1000Watt.

And btw i have to say i did not reset when the benchmarks failed so i can say it was running for around 6-7 hours (including watchdogs play and watching movies etc).

Just got another black screen... And i was just on the web replying to jkhoward...

@jkhoward The temperatures for R9 290 is 46 Max (according to MSI Afterburner).

@firo40 no i did not try that. Had that on mind tho. But i am not sure if it will give a true feedback without a format on windows since i am using hybrid programm.

Yes i do have that custom driver.

It is from NGOHQ.

It is called hybrid-physx-mod-1.05ff

Edit: Another black screen now.

Gonna delete everything tomorrow. Than try with just AMD. Tho the black screen happens randomly. Therefore the Nvidia removal may not be the solution but can fool for some time till i get the same error again.

And i somehow can not reproduce the error artificially

Sorry to bump but in case some other people suffer from the same thing, i just updated 14.4 to 14.6 Beta drivers and (don't want to jinx but) no black screens so far.

Thank you all who put time and effort in order to solve the problem.
