I am using a Lenovo C200 laptop with Windows XP. I tried connecting it to an ethernet cable (which I use to connect my desktop) but there is no blinking in the ethernet port after connecting the cable. I checked in Device Manager and found that it detects my Realtek NIC. I downloaded the most recent drivers too but that didn't work. When I select Automatic option for IP address and DNS it shows a yellow exclamation mark icon showing limited or no connectivity. When I manually enter IP address and DNS, it shows connected but it only sends data and receives no packet. I checked the BIOS and cleared the CMOS.

When I connect the same cable to my Desktop the internet works very well. So I guess the cable and my modem are perfect and some issue is with the LAN card. But what stumps me is that it is still being detected. It also detects if I plug in a cable or plug it out. But still, there is no light blinking on the port.

I also tried to ping, but it says Request timed out. Please help !
