Hi, I recently built a PC and was looking to buy a GTX 760 or a R9 280.. I only have a 550w PSU, and was wondering if this list: http://forum-en.msi.com/faq/article/power-requirements-... was accurate.

I noticed there wasn't a R9 280 listed, but if it says a 280x can run off of a 550w PSU, then I should have no problem. I just want to make sure I can trust that list before I buy anything.. I actually wish i could get a GTX 770.. but I don't want to buy another PowerSupply lol.. thanks in advance.

You can run both GTX 770 and r9 280 even with a 500W PSU. What really matters is the quality of it.

You should post your whole configuration, and link to your PSU's specs

the 770 draws less power than a 280x. As stated 500w is fine but Watts arent evreything. Quality such as 80+ bronze is important as well as manufacturer reputation and voltage on the rails

As mentioned that isn't the most efficient PSU, but it is rated at 444W onthe 12V rails. 444w/12v=37A. So you get 37A on the 12V rails. That should run any of the cards you listed above.

If you aren't doing heavy overclocking I would feel comfortable with any of those. I'd chuck a GTX770 in that and rock'n'rock.

FYI, I'd get a 4GB 770. It will help you out a bit in some current and future games. Especially those with heavy textures. I know titanfal suggests 3GB of vRAM to run Insane textures.

Right. I see that card says 600W and 42A on the 12V rails, but you are close and that is taking in account total system wattage. That card is already OCed so I'd just run it as is. You should be fine.

Here is a review including this card. The total system stays under about 400W on a fully loaded system. While it doesn't list the system used in this review for some reason, typically Anandtech uses a pretty high end system like an moderately OCed i7. I would expect you to drawl less power.
