I recently took out all the HDDs from my old dead computer and connected them to my new computer with a USB3.0-SATA converter, which itself has a power supply and is "supposed" to be able to give a 2.0A@12V...

I've been able to connect two of my 160GB HDDs (and some IDE devices) and read/write with no trouble..but I haven't been able to read my 1TB HDD (WD Black Series WD1002FAEX)...
Windows is able to detect it as an USB Storage device and I can feel the HDD spinning a bit
I can also see the HDDs model correctly in the Device manager but it doesn't show up as a logical drive
I've also looked into "Manage"' --> "Disk Management" and it's listed as a physical drive at the bottom of the screen and it's status is "Incorrect"...

Interestingly WD Safeguard is able to recognize the drive too (not logically) and I've ran the Quick Test on it and it was able to pass the test...

I was thinking whether I'm having a dead HDD (which is bad) or is my converter somehow short of power to run the drive properly (It's a cheap one and I'm using a socket converter with it)...Would lack of power possibly lead to such conditions?

Thanks a lot in advance!

If the drive has passed the WD diagnostic test, it cannot be dead.

I'm thinking maybe your converter contraption doesn't support drive's with capacity of 1 TB or higher.
Try a proper hard drive enclosure instead, and check it supports 1 TB drives before buying it.
