Hello all, I am still unsure which GPU to get for my gaming pc, Iv been looking at mainly AMD'S r9 200 series such as the 270x/280x and Nvidia's GTX 700 series such as the 760/770 but I only want to spend around £150-£200 for a GPU that can play game such as BF4/ Day Z/ COD's at High/Ultra Settings at a resolution of 1920x1080 23'' Acer Monitor, if anyone own's one of these GPU's could you please give me an opinion on how they perform and the FPS you get, thank you :)

My Pc Specifications:

CPU - Intel i5-4670K 3.4Ghz
Monitor - Single Acer 23 inch 1920 x 1080p Res
Mobo - Asus Maximus Hero IV
Memory - 8gb Corsair LP 1866mhz
Power Supply - Corsair CX750w Modular
Case - Gigabyte Sumo
CPU Cooler - XIGMATEK Dark Knight
OS - Windows 7 64 - Bit
Hard Drive - Standard SeaGate 500GB

If you want to hit 60fps on 1080p with BF4 then you gotta go 280x or 770. I'm sure the 270x could hit low 50s but you might need to tone down AA a bit.

My 280x easily averages 60fps on BF4 on Ultra 1080p. A 760 won't do that. Also, the 280x has fallen in price. Grab it while you can.

Thank you for the reply and the advice much appreciated :) , yeah I was considering the 280x as you say people have given a lot of good reviews on amazon/scan about the performance these cards give at 1080p and obviously how much they have come down in price, which model 280x do you have ? I have been looking at the Toxic version which averages around £250 on amazon and scan.co.uk but scan also have a very good deal on the MSI version at just over £200.

R9 280X would be your best choice, overclocking is also a beast, which is a good reason to get it over a 770. Extra Vram and wider bus are all factors to consider for later on. The R9 280X can go over 316GB/s whilst the 770 can't go near that. That is serious overclocking for a card.

Thank you for this information :) , what would be the better 280x model to buy if I wanted to Over clock ?, the MSI model is going for around £200 on scan.co.uk but I was thinking about the Sapphire toxic model too

both are great choices, the Sapphire is better, but is it worth the price difference, no. Get the MSI, it won't disappoint! the MSI twin frozr cooler is great for overclocking.

**If you can get the Asus Platinum matrix R9 280X that is the best one available (better then the toxic), look out for that model, but it has been discontinued mostly**

So you would recommend me getting the MSI 280x and would you say £200 is a good price, also how would I over clock the GPU if I wanted too as I have never done this before lol :)

I have owned 2 MSI Twin Frozr GPUs, but I did not buy one when I got the 280x. The reviews in terms of heating and noise were not good. I don't know why this is so, but that's what reviews showed. Check tomshardware..So I bought a Sapphire Dual-X and I have no regrets. I suggest buying a Sapphire 280x but not Toxic cuz it is the loudest model.

I do suggest the MSI, yes. People sometimes do get bad experiences, yes, that is will ALL companies.

Overclocking, with the manufacturer OC Software, it is so easy you'll easily work it out yourself;

How to overclock? Download GPU software. Whatever brand of GPU you buy you'll get that company's gpu software. However, you can use any software. I love MSI's the best. It's called MSI Afterburner. It allows me to make small adjustments and create a fan profile that I like.
