Im building a new rig. I am a owner now of an oldd core 2 quad Q9550. I want to chose between those 2 cpus. i7-4790 and i7-4790k. I know that one is for overclocking and the other is a locked cpu. I want to know which cpu will last more? I think that now I wont be overclocking, but after I will. I want this computer to last around 3-4 years.

The rest of my build will be a Maximus VII Hero, GTX770 EVGA SC. I was thinking about the K version because I dont know what will happen from now until 2-3 years. Maybe a overclock will be needed. The difference between them is around 40$. Is it worth it ?

well, from 4 years ago, the top non-OC i7 CPU and Top i7 OC CPU both do well, even without an overclock.

If you decide to overclock later, then get the "k". If never don't. Since your getting a Z97 chipset, take advantage of it and get the "k". If not, then the H97 is all you need.

I choose that Z97 vii hero because of its features and options. The difference between the K and nonK is minimal that makes me feel that it is better to take the K version.

Just another question, today I have the XFX 550w, will it be able to power a GTX 770, with a 4790k no OC for now and the maximus vii hero? If I will overclock after, I will be getting a new PSU. And regarding the cooler, if I wont OC now, should i take another cooler?
