I turned my computer on today to find my display maxed out at 1024x760, I haven't changed anything, same TV, HDMI cable - didn't adjust the display yesterday, it's just strange.

I also noticed that the windows load screen is different, the four color swirl is gone and it's a green load bar that just says © Microsoft Corporation.

What the hell happened? PLEASE HELP!

NOTE:
I did update my NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670 2GB the other day.
Today I reinstalled both
GeForce_Experience_v2.1.0.0
and
337.88-desktop-win8-win7-winvista-64bit-english-whql
just to make sure everything was up-to-date.

The manufacturer's graphics driver may have become corrupted or gone "awol", in which case Windows swaps in the basic Microsoft driver which supports only low colour depth and low resolution.

Try re-installing the GPU manufacturer's graphics driver from their website.

Sounds like an issue with your graphics card or a driver issue. Can you give us a list of your computer's components? If you don't know what they are, use speccy and take a screenshot - http://www.filehippo.com/download_speccy/download/3e23e6d416a112e89d1a39ca156549b6/

Also a picture of the screen you are describing and anything else you can remember/give us info on.

Uninstalled drivers > restarted > computer auto detected drivers > installed them > restarted and now I'm back to where I started, stuck with 1024x768.

Driver problems also wouldn't effect that windows boot animation, what's up with that?

Just checked the NVIDIA Control Panel and I was able to set things back to 1920x1080.
Those options were not in the windows screen resolution options for some reason.

Thanks all for the help!
