I find it difficult to choose the motherboard for I5 4670k. I actually deciding it to buy , but still not sure if I should. I will play games, but mostly I want it for video design, graphics design etc..

My old LGA 775 motherboard died and I sold my q9400 cpu. So what is left: old ATi 5830, 600W psu and 4 gb DDR. Which I listed on ebay as they are not useful anymore.

I have ATX tower, all I need is not so expensive, but good motherboard. Should I go with ASUS ASUS Z87M-PLUS, Z87, DualDDR3-1600, SATA3, RAID, GBLAN, mATX ? (As far as I know, you can fit mATX in ATX case if I am right)

Or maybe You can recommend something different mobo?
I am from Europe, so the prices might be different than in US.

Get a 4670k if your going with a Z87 board.

The ASUS board is a great choice.

Any halfway decent socket 1150 board will fit your needs. These days miniITX, microATX and all the other smaller than ATX sizes will fit on the mounts in a standard ATX case.

What is more, the smaller boards lack little in comparison with their bigger brethren. If you are only ever going to use one graphics card and are happy with two sticks of DDR3 then The Asrock Z87E-ITX is a great little board. I have done several builds with it and all my clients are happy (I actually have another on my desk right now).

It fits the 4670K very nicely and comes with decent onboard sound, gigabit ethernet, 6 SATA600 ports and enough USB3 and 2 connectivity to satisfy most healthy use. It even has a miniSATA port on the rear which I have paired several times with Samsung's 840 EVO mSATA 250GB.

I tend to drop in this memory Crucial Ballistix 8GB kit as it is on the board's approved list and it doesn't interfere with any CPU coolers.

As for wireless, the Asrock board has wireless 802.11b/g/n/ac as well as Bluetooth 4 built in.

I tend not to go for the cheapest kit when building but that means I have less to worry about later. Fewer customer problems later.

Not at all. The extreme 4 is a full size ATX board with a huge array of features. If you would not use those extra features there would be little reason to get that board. Get what you actually need. If that includes items on the larger board such as the ability to accommodate multi-GPU setups then go for it.

I still find it painful to choose the mobo, I would like to have 4 slots of DDR. What else would you recommend up to 140 dollars?

I have created a quick video that shows how to properly delid and clean i7 4770k in about 15 minutes with a razor blade. The benefit of this is greatly reduced core temperatures at idle and under load so very much worth it for overclocking. You... See full content
