I am looking at upgrading my Pc with some money I have recently received. After playing watchdogs I feel the need to push the performance of my pc. currently:

8gb corsair xms ram
h81m cheap crappy mobo
i5 4670k
HD 6970 w/ accelero hybrid cooler
corsair 540 air case

My plan is to get a ROG ranger mobo, a couple of new case fans (phanteks), and a new gpu. I have been looking at the 280x as it is at the top of my budget at the £250 mark. It seems to have the power to handle most games at high/ultra settings. I basically want a card that wont struggle to continue to do this for at least a few years. I would consider crossfire/sli but have heard negative remarks regarding optimisation of games utilising this technology.I can't go above the £250 budget, but any savings would assist me in purchasing some better ram, likely ripsaw. Although, sellng some of the parts I'm taking out will likely make me a small amount.

any advice would be great as this is a big upgrade for me, and one I will not have another chance to do in the next few years.

that vapor x looks really good. Is the noise of the toxic really that bad? My 6970 is obviously pretty loud anyway, improved with the accelero hybrid. but a nice silent build would be good as I'm replacing the loud case fans. Those reviews for vapor x seem to suggest it is a very quiet running card. Dual-x seems a inferior option to that 1. Might go for the vapor if I don't see any better option.
